The paver you choose is rarely the biggest number in the quote. What sits underneath it is. A driveway carries vehicle loads and needs a deeper compacted base than a patio does, which is why the same stone costs meaningfully more per square foot on a driveway than on a rear patio.

What a Proper Installation Includes

In a freeze-thaw climate the base is the product. None of this is visible once the job is finished, which is exactly why it is where a cheap quote saves money.
