Many Toronto, Etobicoke, and Mississauga lots simply cannot fit an inground pool once setbacks and grading are respected. A swim spa needs a reinforced pad and service access, and that is essentially it. For townhouse-scale and infill yards, it is often the only realistic way to swim at home. Insulated shells and covers keep winter operating costs manageable, typically comparable to running a large hot tub. Maintenance is also lighter: a fraction of the water volume of a pool means faster chemistry and less equipment.
Who Should Choose Which
Choose an inground pool when you have the lot, the budget, and the vision of a full resort backyard: pools remain the anchor of high-end outdoor living, and nothing matches hosting twenty people around one. Choose a swim spa when the lot is tight, when you want swimming and hot-tub therapy in one footprint, when winter use matters, or when the pool budget does not survive contact with the quotes.
